Dialectical Behavioural Therapy

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but it has been adapted to specifically help individuals who experience intense overwhelming emotions.

DBT can help you, alongside the support of your DBT Therapist to change unhelpful behaviours such as self harm, binge and restricted eating patterns.

The goal of DBT is to help individuals learn to manage difficult emotions by experiencing, recognising and accepting them. Learning to regulate emotions is key to achieving this.

DBT Therapists use a balance of CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Validation, Acceptance and Change techniques.

DBT can help you to change your unhelpful behaviours and learn more effective skillful ways of dealing with your distress.
